Clashes erupt between protesters and police in Venezuela

CARACAS (AFP) - Riot police and anti-government protesters clashed with exchanges of tear gas and rocks in Venezuela's capital on Thursday (April 20) during a big demonstration against President Nicolas Maduro, AFP journalists witnessed.

The police, backed by an armoured truck, sought to force back the thousands of demonstrators who had reached a vital freeway in Caracas.

The officers were targeted by a masked group of protesters hurling stones.
