SINGAPORE - From Wednesday (June 14), staff and visitors of Singapore Science Park 1 will be able to rent e-scooters or bicycles as part of a six-month trial, announced the Ascendas-Singbridge Group.

The trial - which will run until Dec 13 - is a collaboration between Ascendas-Singbridge, the master developer of Singapore Science Park One, and start-up Neuron Mobility.

There will be 50 e-scooters and 20 bicycles available from six parking zones within the 29ha park.

Users can download an app, available for both Android and iOS devices, to unlock both the e-scooters and bikes, which will be available at a rate of $0.50 per 15 minutes.

The scheme is aimed at supplementing the shuttle bus and public transport services within the park, said Ascendas-Singbridge deputy group chief executive Manohar Khiatani.

He added: "The trial will allow us to gauge receptivity to the scheme and monitor usage so that we can improve intermodal connectivity and point-to-point travel within Singapore Science Park One."

Mr Zachary Wang, chief executive of Neuron Mobility, described the park as an "excellent testbed location" for the scheme.

Mr Khiatani said that Ascendas-Singbridge hopes to continue the scheme in Singapore Science Park One, beyond the six-month trial, and extend it to Singapore Science Park Two, as well as other properties in Singapore and the region.
