GE2015: Election food spots to rally around island-wide in Singapore

Travelling to attend rallies before the Sept 11 General Election? To have the best experience hearing the candidates say their piece, go early, wear something you don't mind getting dirt on in case of muddy fields, and stay hydrated.

Meanwhile, Life has you covered in the food department as we suss out the best dinner and supper spots near rally sites in 17 of the most hotly contested wards. These range from hawker centres with a slew of renowned stalls to trendy cafes - all equally excellent places to refuel before rallies, or continue the discussion after.

WP chairman Sylvia Lim's Instagram post on the orh luak (oyster omelette) at Fengshan Market and Food Centre (Block 85, Bedok North Street 4) might have boosted that stall's popularity, but other delicacies in the food centre are worth checking out, especially since many stalls open till the wee hours. Try the bak chor mee (starts from $2.50) from Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee and Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian stalls, as well as the hokkien mee (starts from $3) from Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster. Sin Bedok North BBQ Chicken Wing stall's barbecue chicken wings ($1.40 a piece) are also good.

Not a promising area in terms of hawker fare or indie eateries. However, Singapore Sports Hub, where the rally is held, is surrounded by several new malls, where the options are reliable if predictable. Kallang Wave Mall (1 Stadium Place Open: 10am to 10pm daily) and Leisure Park Kallang (5 Stadium Walk. Open: 10am to 10pm daily) have restaurants such as French-themed eatery Poulet and steamboat stalwart Coca Restaurant.
