SINGAPORE - Fireworks will span the entire Marina Bay during the countdown celebration to 2016, organisers of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown said.
Matching 2015's display, the pyrotechnics to usher in 2016 will last eight minutes with festive lighting of buildings around the Bay and a special light projection show on the facade of The Fullerton Hotel.
The largest Countdown celebration in Singapore, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown is jointly organised by Esplanade - Theatres by the Bay and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
Mr Benson Puah, CEO of The Esplanade, said: "With the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2016, we start a new chapter in the Singapore story by coming together as a nation and imagining the possibilities that the future holds."
Party-goers can view the fireworks from more locations around the bay, particularly with the opening of the Jubilee Bridge this year, the organisers said.
The display will be set to an original score composed by young music director Julian Wong.
Mr Ng Lang, CEO of URA, invites the public to join in the "first post-SG50 event".
"The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown has now firmly established itself as a key event on Singapore's calendar, where the community comes together to welcome the New Year," he added.
Besides the fireworks and light displays, there will be activities around the bay including Esplanade's Celebrate December music programmes, a bazaar at the Marina Bay waterfront and a Celebrate 2016 concert.
Singer Adam Lambert will be performing at the concert, the press release said.
There was an online petition to stop the openly gay singer from performing at the Countdown. An opposing petition in support of him performing, appeared online afterwards.
