YOGYAKARTA • Indonesian housewife Kussupastiati recalls vividly the fateful morning of May 27, 2006, when a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the city of Yogyakarta.
The ground wobbled violently, swallowing up houses, schools, roads and bridges. Nearly 6,000 people died and more than 36,000 were injured in the aftermath. A million people, including Ms Kussupastiati, were left homeless.
