France shaken by burning Notre Dame cathedral

LONDON - French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to rebuild the medieval cathedral of Notre Dame after a major fire partially destroyed the landmark which has stood as a symbol of France for almost a millennium.

"We'll rebuild this cathedral all together. Because that's what our history deserves. Because that's our profound destiny," a visibly shaken Mr Macron said while visiting the site of the disaster, a Unesco World Heritage site.
