KUALA LUMPUR - Former Malaysian premier Najib Razak's daughter Nooryana Najwa said her bank account was frozen immediately after she posted bail for her father, who was charged with corruption on Wednesday (July 4).

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Ms Nooryana said her bank informed her it had instructions to freeze her account, which she used to pay her school fees, as well as the account of her 10-month-old son which had only RM100 (S$34) in it.

"Is the govt so vindictive that they want to eliminate our entire family? What does my baby's duit Raya have to do with 1MDB?" she said in the post, referring to money that is traditionally given to children during the Muslim festival of Eid in Malaysia.

Najib and the Barisan Nasional coalition he led were ousted in a general election in May. The new Pakatan Harapan government has revived probes into troubled state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

"Is this the new Malaysia people were praying for?" Ms Nooryana concluded in her post.

According to news site Malaysiakini, the personal bank account of Najib's son Norashman was also frozen on Thursday.

Najib was arrested on Tuesday night by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and charged on Wednesday morning with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power in relation to SRC International, a former 1MDB unit.

Najib pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Bail was set at RM1 million, and he was allowed to leave court after his family members posted half of the bail sum, with the rest to be paid on Monday.
