ST PETERSBURG -The last time Germany were knocked out of the World Cup at the first hurdle was in 1938, 10 years before South Korea gained independence in 1948.

Fifty-six places separate them in the football hierarchy but, on Wednesday (June 27), the Koreans stunned the world No. 1 Germans 2-0 in Kazan to send the defending champions packing.
