SINGAPORE - Century Square mall will re-open on Wednesday (June 6) boasting a new look and and mostly new tenants following its nine-month revamp.
"We've reinvented the mall by creating a lifestyle destination where shoppers would want to hangout with their friends and families while experiencing new brands and concepts," said managing director of AsiaMalls Management, Mr Tan Kee Yong.
The mall originally opened in 1995 and its management announced that it would undergo a $60 million facelift last August.
Located near Tampines MRT interchange station, it now has over 130 retailers - more than half of which are newcomers.
It features 45 food and beverage establishments, up from 30, including chicken rice chain Boon Tong Kee's first mall outlet.
Other new eateries include The MeatHouse, which serves halal premium meats, and Two Hana, which offers Korean-Western fusion dishes.
Homegrown fashion label M)phosis will also return after its sudden closure amid cashflow problems in 2015.
Foot Locker will open its first Singapore store at Century Square. There is also a Filmgarde cinema, kitchenware store ToTT, the National Library Board's digital library service eReads and hotpot restaurant Hai Di Lao.
One level of the six-storey mall is dedicated to families, offering childcare centre The Orange Academy and an enrichment centre The Learning Lab.
Century Square will also introduce new digital innovations such as an 'e-doodling wall' where young shoppers can draw and write.
Other amenities include a new roof deck, bike stations with shower facilities, upgraded and larger nursing rooms, a customer service counter, mall-wide complimentary WiFi and self-help mobile charging stations.
The mall, which drew around a million visitors a month previously, covers 210,000sqft - close to three football fields - up from 199,000 sqft last year.
Ms Kylein Sarno, 21, a student at PSB Academy used to visit the mall every Sunday. "I'm really excited for the opening, I can't wait to check it out," she said. "I hope that it's more suited to be a place where people can hangout, meet their friends and there will be a larger variety of restaurants, shops and activities."
Mdm Tan Bee Har, 54, a homemaker who used to visit the mall once a week, said: "I'm excited and looking forward to the opening. I hope to see a supermarket, food court and a store that sells household items."
General manager of Century Square, Mr Dennis Cheong, said: "We hope Century Square can continue to stay relevant to our community and serve their needs."
