Port Dickson has clearly decided in favour of prime minister-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim, granting him nearly three-quarters of the vote in Saturday's (Oct 13) by-election, but a closer look at voter numbers reveals a cloudier picture.
While Datuk Seri Anwar can claim a larger margin of victory and a larger vote share than what was secured by former MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah in the May general election, critics say that despite the electorate being offered a future premier as their representative, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat president could not muster more votes than the incumbent who vacated the seat for him.
